Weather: Summer rainfall region, rain in spring, thunderstorms during the midsummer months with soft, soaking rain and occasional thunderstorms in autumn. Historically, snow has fallen in every month of the year. On the morning of 1 January 2001, 50mm of snow lay outside but which melted by 10h00. November 2002 saw two bouts of frost that successfully put paid to any expectations of a fruit crop that summer. Most snowfalls occur during mid- to latewinter but the nature of the terrain is such that all four seasons can be experienced in a day. Warm clothing should always form part of your wardrobe when visiting the Highlands .
